Cougar Creek Streamkeepers

Cougar Creek Streamkeepers is an informal group of Volunteers dedicated to restoring and maintaining the health of Cougar Creek, a salmon stream that rises in Surrey, BC, flows through North Delta and empties into the Fraser River.

Principal projects are streamside restoration, salmon rearing and release, creation of "rain gardens" to reduce storm water damage to the creek, removal of English ivy and other invasives, and litter pickup. Volunteers Welcome!

The George C. Reifel Bird Sanctuary is situated on Westham Island, just west of the community of Ladner in the Municipality of Delta, BC. It consists of nearly 300 hectares (850 acres) of managed wetlands, natural marshes and low dikes in the heart of the Fraser River Estuary.

For the millions of birds seeking feeding and resting areas during their annual migrations along the Pacific Coast, the Sanctuary is ideally located. It is a place where wildlife and their habitats are protected from harm, and it lies next to miles of flat, marshland and the farmland of Westham Island.

About O.W.L.
The Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society is a non-profit organization whose volunteers are dedicated to public education and the rehabilitation and release of injured and orphaned birds. OWL became a Society in January 1985. (Registration No. S-19879.) OWL is licensed through Fish and Wildlife. Under the direction of founding director Bev Day. OWL is on call seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. Public tours are held every Saturday and Sunday from 10:00am to 2:30pm.

...protecting the world's peatlands by educating people on the importance of Burns Bog, a globally unique ecosystem due to its chemistry, form, flora, fauna and size as one of the world's largest undeveloped ecosystems in an urban area.

...proving opportunities for people to interact with this natural environment through interpretive tours, educational materials, supporting controlled access to the main Bog area, and maintaining the boardwalks to provide access for all members of our broader community.
